Editing and saving workspace file

Hi guys,

Need help from experts on this forum. I just submitted the same question to textpad via feedback page. Realizing that a forum like this will be more appropriate, I am resubmitting the question here. My question(s):

Is it possible to use textpad for safely editing and saving a workspace file?

I need to edit directory path strings in the tws file with new directory structure. This way I won't loose all the workspace files moved from my old computer.

For opening such a file in textpad what kind of file type "file format" and "encoding should be used?

Would you recommend some other editing tool if textpad is not suitable for this purpose.
