I frequently double click on the status bar items Read Ovr Block Rec to toggle these features off and on. It saves time hunting through the menus. I have the following view menu items enabled:
Status bar
Document Tabs
Vertical Scroll Bar
Horizontal Scroll Bar
If I have one text file open and I double click on Block in the status bar all text in that portion of the status bar disappears (instead of greying out). The intended toggle works fine, you just do not know what mode you are in. The culprit appears to be that Document Tabs is enabled. If this is disabled everything works fine. I am running W2K with Textpad 4.4.1

Re: Status Bar Misbehaving
It's a known problem of version 4.4 on Win2k.
It's been solved with version 4.4.1a. My textpad.exe has a date of 02/27/2001.
A new maintenance release should arrive soon, so maybe you could just wait for the new build. Otherwise, just download the latest available from the download section.
Cheers,
Marco

Re: Status Bar Misbehaving
Sorry, I just checked on the ftp site, and file dates there are still 02/14/2001.
Maybe the .exe I've got has been sent only to those who reported the problem and tested its resolution.
Anyway, the new build will be ok...
Cheers,
Marco

Re: Status Bar Misbehaving
I recall an old message of Keith on this forum, I'll copy it here again. Just follow the URL to find the patched release 4.4.1a.

This problem has been traced to a Visual C++ compiler optimisation problem. We think we have fixed it, but would appreciate it if any of you who have experienced it would check the fix works. Please download:
http://www.textpad.com/download/files/txpeng441a.zip
This file only contains textpad.exe, so backup your current copy of that file and extract the new one to the same folder.
Please email support@textpad.com, if you have any problems.
Thanks,
