Weird video problem with textpad

Post by Dave Walsh »

Hi all - I've gone through the forums and not spotted anything related to the problem I'm having - please take a look at the screenshot I've uploaded to here:
http://www.hellshaw.com/tmp/textpad.jpg

I'm running windows 98, have no shortage of RAM (128MB), and textpad is the only application I have this problem with...it seems to keep the top part of the screen holding the visuals from other applications I've been using. It's very annoying - any ideas?

Hi there

Please try the following for TextPad 4.x:

1) Exit from TextPad
2) Click Start/Run and run REGEDIT.EXE
3) Expand the path
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Helios\TextPad 4.
4) Select the key labelled "Docking" and delete it.

That key will be recreated the next time you run TextPad, but you will lose any custom changes you have made to any toolbars.

Hope that helps!

Echo thanks both for the answer *and* the question. :-) Not W98 in my case but Microsoft Windows 95 Ver 4.00.1111 b. Anyway, solution worked fine. Any thoughts as to the cause? I'm sure I have come across it before though not necessarily with Textpad. Something to do with different applications using common libraries? Apologies if I am way off beam.
