I just re-installed my system and I had some html documents burned onto cd, that I brought back to my system, I had them burned, then I transfered them to a directory. Well, I got the new version of Text Pad and when I edit and try to save one of those files, it says that access to that file was denied. Is there some setting in there that I have to change. I already caught the "read only" box to uncheck, but now it won't save the file. If I change the file name and try to save it, it works like a charm, but if I try to save over the original, it lets me know that I'm about to re-write over the file, but after I ok it, I get that message that access to the file was denied. Please let me know when ya get a chance.
Thanks,
Nick

Hey, I figured out the problem. I just went into Windows Explorer and right clicked on all of the files and went into their propertied and unchecked the "read only" box and now it works just fine. Stupid me !!! ha ha

Not stupid you. Stupid MS.
Why do files on a read-only medium need the read-only flag set?
Or why are they copied with this flag set?
This is not necessary, as the files on the CD can't be written anyway, so why protect them individually?
Just to make it impossible to make an exact copy of a folder.
