Zoomed view of Textpad window

Post by ubose »

I would like to work in a zoomed view of the Textpad window in Windows OS. To compare, one can set the Microsoft Windows to a zoom in at 125%, for example, every time they launch the app. How to set it similarly in Textpad?

Which Windows version and which "app"? Each program has to support it on its own at some point, so just judging from f.e. Office or other products from Microsoft alone is not enough.

Also please note that Windows comes with a general text size setting for decades already, unrelated to if a program supports individual zooming or not. If you want to zoom in on every program then just decrease your desktop resolution.

For example, in Microsoft Word, I can choose a zoom level to work with when typing text. After closing Word and relaunching it, it returns to the same zoom I last used. Is that feature available in Textpad?

If you have files open in a workspace, and zoom in on each of them, that zoom level will be used each time you open the workspace. Alternatively, select a larger font in the corresponding document class for each file.

Doesn't seem to happen and would be useful. It could also be an option in the view settings as a permanent setting for the app, rather than using the zoom buttons every time. Doing a permanent setting for each file is strange and impractical.

If you want to zoom in permanently, why not increase the font size in your document classes as shown in my last post?

Because I don't often load text files into this programme. I usually work with .php files, which is why your instructions didn't work. I have now found out that it has to be done as the 'default' setting in you screen image above rather than just for 'text'. Obvious once you know what is going on here.

In the Preferences screenshot above, you'll see a document class called PHP, just above the Text one. I would have used that as an example, if I'd known.

If you don't have a PHP document class, you can create one using the New Document Class command on the Configure menu. If you enable syntax highlighting and select php.syn as the syntax definition file, your PHP files will be displayed in glorious technicolour.
