TextPad 9.8.2 User Dictionary

Hi,

I am using TextPad 9.8.2.

Please let me know where the User Dictionary is. I thought that the User Dictionary is stored in the file U2057.TLX. However, it appears that I cannot add any new words to the User Dictionary, nor does TextPad use the file U2057.TLX any more.

TextPad 9 uses the following files in %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Spelling\<language>:

default.acl - for auto correction
default.dic - for added words
default.exc - for words to ignore

Rather than editing them directly, you should use:

Configure » Preferences » Spelling » Edit.

However, if you've built up word lists with TextPad 8, they can be copied to those files, as long as you maintain the new format.
