I upgraded Textpad 9 to 9.8.1 today. I don't recall the specific version I came from but it was about a year old.
My colors are configured to be lighter text on a dark background. Your typical dark mode kind of color scheme. It's been that way for more than a decade.
With this version, at start up, I'm now greeted by a bright white background flash just before documents are rendered using my selected colors. It's beyond annoying. What can be done to prevent this or revert it to the prior behavior?

Re: painfully bright white flash on start up
I've just checked with TextPad 9.0, which was released in January 2023, and it behaves as you describe at startup. Subsequent file opens do not exhibit this transition from white to black. If you have been working with a dark background for a decade, you must have configured TextPad 8's color scheme that way. You can continue to use that version by uninstalling version 9 and then installing version 8.
Alternatively, you could mimic what you did with version 8 by selecting a light theme in version 9 and making the document class colors the same as you were using in version 8
Note that any workspaces you save in version 9 cannot be read by version 8.

Re: painfully bright white flash on start up
This is fixed in TextPad 9.8.2.
