Block reboots

Post by IanOfYork »

Windows updates that cut in while I am away getting a coffee have lost many unsaved edits.

If TextPad has unsaved files, could it please block a system reboot request?

If catching the WM_QUERYENDSESSION message does not allow a full block, please ensure that unsaved files do get saved.
It would probably be kinder to save to a backup file rather than just saving as normal.
Restarting Textpad should then warn about any pending backup saves.

Also save the workspace file.

TextPad does have a handler for that message, but it can't be working right if you're losing edits. It's difficult to debug this when Windows is shutting down, but we'll check that code.

I do wish they would enable the last part, where it saves any unsaved documents (whether its just edits to an existing file, or a completely unsaved document as a backup/"recovery"), and then re-present them when TextPad comes back up to allow for recovery, much like how MS Word (or any other Office application does).
