TextPad 9 - Install Without Adminstrator Rights?
Hi All - Can I install TP9 without administrator rights? This wasnt an issue with TP8, but it looks like for TP9 it was changed from zip to exe
Re: TextPad 9 - Install Without Adminstrator Rights?
TextPad 8 uses zip files, because the multiple installers for the 64 and 32-bit editions in different languages are all called setup.exe, so they are zipped with different names. TextPad 9 is all-in-one, so its exe file is not zipped. Hence, this shouldn't affect installation.

Ah OK - I might be misremembering about TP8 about how I installed it. It might have been that I was able to install on a PC with admin and then copy the resulting folder to the PC without admin. It seemed to work fine with no issues after (without the admin rights).bbadmin wrote: ↑Tue Apr 11, 2023 4:32 pm TextPad 8 uses zip files, because the multiple installers for the 64 and 32-bit editions in different languages are all called setup.exe, so they are zipped with different names. I'm not able to do this with TP9, so it would be really useful if there was a portable version that doesn't require installation/admin - does such a thing exist?

Licensed users can run the TextPad Portable Wizard which is installed with TextPad. It can create an installation on removable media.
Re: TextPad 9 - Install Without Adminstrator Rights?
Thankyou for the suggestion. Unfortunately many environments that are lacking admin rights also have USB ports etc disabled also. That's why I was hoping for a portable version download, available from the Textpad official site - sounds like it would not be available, but thankyou for all the ideas
