Multiple Instances - problem

I may be a bit dense, but I have been able to allow multiple instances to run in previous versions of TextPad 7 and 8, but due to a problem on my desktop I now have an install of TextPad 8.14.2 on a new Windows 10 laptop.

I probably need a step by step description of what is needed in Preferences> General
Thought all I had to do was to keep unchecked Allow multiple instances to run

I don't use Workspaces (never have).
I have a registered version of TextPad, probably have NOT made the laptop's install aware of that

If you want multiple instances to run, check that option. You said uncheck it.
