Extra line when pasting content to Google Docs

Post by ztalk112 »

I'm sure this has probably been asked numerous times before, but I haven't been able to nail the right search phrase to find past answers in the forum (sorry!).

When I copy & paste content from TextPad to Google Docs, I get an extra line between my TextPad paragraphs in Google Docs.

Can this be eliminated with a TextPad setting?

Cheers.

Don't use google docs, so can't check what's going on. However, by convention, each line placed in the Windows copy buffer is separated by both carriage return and linefeed. If google docs is interpreting that as double spacing, it's their bug. Pasting in Notepad, WordPad or Word should confirm that the contents of the copy buffer is as expected.

Thanks for your reply.

In Notepad, pasted content is as expected (ie same as the original in TextPad).

But in WordPad, the result is the same as for Google Docs . . . paragraph breaks are double spaced.

WordPad doesn't add an extra line between paragraphs, but there is extra spacing. You can remove it in WordPad by selecting the pasted text, clicking the Line spacing button on the ribbon and clearing Add 10pt space after paragraphs. You can also change the line spacing from 1.15 to 1.0 if you wish.

You might find Google Docs is doing the same thing. Check the line spacing and paragraph format options.

Yep, it was the exact same issue in Google Docs.

Resolved.

Thx!
