How to change the target folder when saving?

Ever time I use File > Save As... I'm offered the same default folder.

Q1: Where is that set? I don't see it anywhere here:


Q2: How do I set it so that it follows the familiar approach of most programs, namely repeating the last folder used?

This is TextPad 7.6.4 (64-bit Edition) and I'm using Win 10 Pro.

Thanks, but not really. It does answer Q1: as I discovered shortly after posting, the save is made to the path of the currently active text file. But Q2 remains.

Typically I have maybe a dozen text files in the current TextPad screen, easily accessible for regular use via the Document Selector. I frequently want to make a succession of several new files (copy/pasting from elsewhere, such as web pages), and save them all in the same folder for later work. I'd thought it should be possible to do that by navigating to that target folder for the first of these, with TextPad subsequently using that for the rest. The target is unlikely to be one that's currently accessible in TextPad.

I could open an arbitrary file from the target folder, activate it, make my multiple saves, and then close the redundant file. But an option to 'Always save to last folder' would be much better IMO.

The workings of the Working folder follows active document mechanism are somewhat mysterious. This might not be altogether unexpected if, as I believe, those workings are controlled by Windows, not TextPad.

If I encountered a similar difficulty I might open a scratch file, enter the destination directory, construct the new paths, and copy & paste them into the Save As... dialog box.

You can't - TextPad neither has a "default save directory", nor any "remember last save directory" setting, not even in 8.1.2. I haven't missed any of those so far, because almost always I edit existing files (and even then save copies of those in the same directory).

It's just no picture to begin with, just a website (trying to) redirect. Dropbox is no picture hoster either, just a file hoster. To embed a picture the resource must be a picture, not a website displaying a picture. Use Imagebam or imgbox instead.

From my experience nobody nowadays knows anymore how to

1. copy a full path from the Explorer and
2. being able to type in/paste a full path (without a filename) into the Filename textbox, hitting the ENTER key (or clicking the Save/Open button) to browse to said directory.

This comes along with the lost knowledge that the Filename textbox is also a filter (i.e. entering *.csv will display [only or additionally] those files - nobody is bound to what the Filter combobox offers).
