Hi there,
theres no "Textpad" entry in my context menu even the "Context Menu" box is checked. Tried to uncheck and recheck didn't change anything.
Please help!

Please try renaming the XML file (ConfigState.xml)to see if that solves the problem. Exit from TextPad before renaming the file.
In windows 7-10 it's stored here:
C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\Helios\TextPad\version number.
A new XML file will be created when you start TextPad, but if the problem isn't resolved you can exit again, delete the new file and rename the original file in order to return to your previous configuration.
I hope this helps.

Hi there!
Tried that but it didn't resolve my problem. After renaming the xml file a new file was created. I opened TP and noticed the "context menu" option was checked but there was no context menu.
I unchecked the "context menu" option and noticed the xml file was changed. But after compairing the both xml files (checked vs unchecked) they were identical...!
Could you please tell me which property belongs to the "context menu" setting?
Thanks!

Which TextPad version (i.e. 8.1.1) in which platform (i.e. 32bit) are you using on which Windows version (i.e. 7) in which platform (i.e. 64bit)? Can you think of an event after which this problem occured (i.e. an update or a system restore)? Have you tried running TextPad with administrator privileges?

Hi there!
>Which TextPad version (i.e. 8.1.1)
Version 7.6.4
>in which platform
64bit, tried also 32bit - same problem
>on which Windows version (i.e. 7)
Windows 10 x64
>an event after which this problem occured
I cannot remember a special event.
>Have you tried running TextPad with administrator privileges?
Shure. Several times.
Meanwhile I installed 7.6.4 x32 on a Windows 7 x86-Machine and compared registry changes of both machines. It seems to be the same:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\TextPad7
with {8A791F0C-C63C-4EC5-B97F-FBCE74EDBC54}
and
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{8A791F0C-C63C-4EC5-B97F-FBCE74EDBC54}
Seems that my Windows 10 has a problem to generate the context menu.
Any ideas?
