Inserting Unicode conflicts with Shortcuts

Greetings,

Let me try this again:

Windows 7 64bit, TP 8.1.2. 64bit

When I enter the unicode for certain characters it causes conflict with what I believe are TP shortcuts.

Entering ḥ (h underdot, ALT (NPad +) (keypad) 1e25 /ALT) I see the character, but hitting spacebar after brings up the title bar menu; hitting return brings up the edit menu. Other characters bring up the configure menu and still others change the focus of the clip library and with a couple of these in a row I am left with an unstable OS that requires rebooting.

Using ALT (NPad +) (keypad) u1e25 (ALT (NPad +) (keypad) u1) does not insert the character and changes the focus of the Clip Library.

This is not unique to TP, but it is much worse than Notepad. I conclude that the conflict is with TP shortcuts, not system shortcuts because of the different ways this problem manifests in different applications.

So:

Is this problem really unique to TP?

Unique to me?

Is there a way to disable the unwanted shortcuts? I do not use any of them.

I have checked Configure>Preferences>Keyboard>categories and there are no shortcuts listed.

I have checked the macro section as well and there are no calls for these menues in the macros I use except possible CTRL+D for delete blank lines and CRTL-T for insert date and time. I can change these.

Your key sequences include <Alt+E>, which brings up the Edit menu.

Why not use TextPad's own Unicode character entry method, EditUnicodeChar? You may have to assign a shortcut to it; I use <Alt+U>, so <Alt+U> 1 e 2 5 <Enter> inserts an ḥ (h with dot below).

Only ... Help> no HOW TO
Nothing like that under 'Unicode' either

Neither ALT+U
nor
ALT (np +) u125

work straight up... is this entry tool one of those select a character and paste things? If that is the case it won't do. I am working on pages which are a sea of special characters.

Looking under HELP top of page menu bar

In TextPad's help window, below the menu bar, on the left, there is a panel with four tabs.
Choose the leftmost tab: Contents.
In the panel below that choose How To ....
Below that choose Edit Text.
Below that choose Type Multilingual Characters.

A section called How to Type Multilingual Characters should appear in the panel on the right.
