[7.6.2] Am I imagining a Block-Select Textpad feature?

Post by no.cache »

*with nothing wrapping obviously . . .

In Block Select Mode I highlight a column and F5 to launch Find. Did we or did we not used to have a Selected Text option in Find? I see it on Replace [F8] but I thought it was available for Find, as well(?)

I only want to bookmark the found lines in the column I block selected, not replace anything. Thanks guys.

In 6.1.3 there are the same search options as in 8.1.2, which means no "search in selection only". Would surprise me if it was available in 7.x only.

As searchng usually changes selection, does it make sense to search in selection?

"Selected Text" exists as option in the replace dialog.

Can't remember it ever was different.

To search in columns higher than x:

^.{x,}yoursearchterm

To find yoursearchterm starting in columns x to y:

^.{x,y}yoursearchterm

Only wanting to mark all occurances would be one of several cases where a "search in selection only" setting would be useful.

But, after all, I could just copy my selection to a new document and search there, so it's no big deal for me.

Happy Holidays Textpad Alumni! :D

Quick update . . . I have everything ready with Licenses for both WIN7 PRO -and- the latest TEXTPAD but have some business to complete before I retire XP. So the version I'm using as of this writing is TEXTPAD 7.6.2. Thanks for this great information fellow 'Padians!
