Clipboard History must be activated before it works

Post by ak47wong »

Steps to reproduce problem:
  1. In the Clip Library, select a clip book other than Clipboard History.
  2. Close TextPad.
  3. Start TextPad.
  4. Select some text and press CTRL+C. Repeat this several times with different text.
  5. In the Clip Library, select Clipboard History.
You will see that only the last-copied text is present.

Reproduced in v5.2.0 and v5.3.0 in Win XP SP2.

Clip library history problem workaround

Post by Cloink »

Hi ak47wong,

I'm not sure I consider this a bug as such, but I know the feeling when you think you can get something from history to find you didn't have the clipboard history cliplib open.

I have recently setup TextPad so that the cliphistlib opens when opening TP - and I also have TP in Win Startup so it is always open. Hey, voilà - never miss a previous clipboard entry.

Having said that, I've found the number of times I actually want to drag something from history is very few and far between -- and because of the 'Can't put it back on the clipboard' oversight, it's gotta be a big chunk of text for me to go to the hassle of inserting into a document and cutting it back out.

As an aside, at work I have the cliphistlib positioned so that it hides the Lync/Skype "So-and-so is typing a message" message so that I don't feel compelled to sit, watch and wait until I receive said instant message...

Hope this helps...

Cloink.
