Ver 7.2.0 R.E checkbox in the find dialog keeps turning off!

Post by aanway »

I can reproduce it by double-clicking on a search term and using either the pulldown menu or the keyboard shortcut to initiate a "find next" command. The search term must not be equal to the previous search term. When the search fails, I get the failure beep, and that's when the RE checkbox seems to be turning off.

Using W7-64 version 7.2.0 (32b)

If you select text within a single line and execute SearchFindNext (Search | Find Next or <Ctrl+F>), TextPad assumes you are searching for that literal text and clears the Regular expression check box. If you execute SearchFind to open the Find dialogue (Search | Find... or <F5>) the Regular expression check box retains its previous setting. I believe that TextPad has always behaved this way.

This is new behavior. I just tested it on 5.2.0 and it retains the RE checkbox setting. Can we get the old behavior back?

I just checked with TextPad 6. You're right. My memory is going. Apologies.

As for changing this behaviour, you'll have to ask the developers that.

Fixed!

Looks like it's fixed in version 7.5.2.

Thanks, Helios!

TP 7.5.2? Am I missing something? Isn't 7.5.1 the current latest issue?

Might be a fat finger thing. 7.6 and 8.0 are now available.
(2[Bb]|[^2].|.[^Bb])

That is the question.
