Finally got around to updating 4.7.3 to latest version. To preserve all my settings am I right that I have to do this in successive stages? Right now I've installed 5.4.2. Or is it possible to go directly to v 7 please?

Updating in stages?

Hi Terry, this doesn't apply directly to your version, but you might find this thread helpful.
Thanks, ak47wong, but I'm still struggling.
By copying files across from \Application Data I've managed to get my macros back, which is good. But I cannot restore the Tools. Nor did the Color settings I made the other day with your help come across automatically, (although that's trivially easy to do myself). And there are probably other setting I haven't yet tried. Yet some have transferred, for example: number of recent files displayed.
Also, I was disappointed that something as basic as File Associations no longer worked. I had to use Explorer's Tools > Folder Options > File Types to change the various entries (.txt, ini, .log, etc) to TextPad 5. And I still haven't quite got that right as get an error when d-clicking a file in Explorer.
And I am still working in 5.4.2, so two levels to go. Is that step to 6 necessary? As the settings don't get transferred properly anyway (despite what the documentation says), I'm considering skipping version 6 and going straight to 7.
