I have been a happy user of TextPad 5.4.2 for many years, and today tried to upgrade to 7.4.0. According to the Installation Instructions, "This release is available as a free upgrade to registered users of TextPad 5 or later. Simply download and install it in its default folder. You do not need to apply for a new license."
But when I did so, I found that I had lost all of my:
- Custom Key Bindings
- External Tools
- Custom Document Classes
- Custom Preferences for Document Classes
Since I couldn't find any way to transfer these settings, I uninstalled 7.4.0 and re-installed 5.4.2. Fortunately, these settings were magically restored.
Is there any way to transfer these setting, other than manually re-entering them? I don't even have a list of my custom key bindings; although my fingers are trained to them I could probably not remember them all.

The short answer is, migrating from 5 to 6 and then 6 to 7 worked. But as always, it is not quite that easy. The first time I tried, failed. To make it work, I copied everything from my TextPad 5 to TextPad 6 folders (both in Program Files and in Application Data) before installing version 6, and then again from TextPad 6 to TextPad 7 folders (both in Program Files and in Application Data) before installing version 7.
