Textpad versions

My college professor has suggested I get a copy of textpad for my HTML course. What's the difference between the free and licensed version? Which one do I need?

There is no difference in functionality, except that the evaluation version will display a message reminding you to buy a licence. From the website:

You are welcome to download a copy of TextPad for evaluation, or to upgrade from an earlier release. There is no charge for the download, but you must pay for the software if you decide to keep it.
