That is, text containing null (code=0) characters.
I have been using Textpad for years, but most importantly, an hour or so ago to do something I do routinely: copy a segment of text from a SAS listing and paste into Word. Doesn't matter how I copy (cntl c, using the icon, using the edit dropdown), it just works--until now, when all I get is this message about null characters.
All the posts seem to be fixated on finding and replacing null characters, but my question is what could change from one moment to the next to cause this in the exact same type of document I've just copied other text from? I gave up and rebooted, just to make sure any stray whatever would be cleared out, to no effect.
Textpad is my workhorse, and I could really use some help that doesn't focus on deleting null characters, which has never been necessary until the second time I tried to do such a routine copy this morning.
