Default document folder

Post by CWBillow »

When Textpad starts, it looks in the User's Documents folder as the working folder.

I easily could be just missing it, but how the heck do I change or set the default working folder, either on a per instance basis or permanently?

Click Configure > Preferences > Folders and then change the value for Startup.

That works if I call Textpad directly. But if I have the option set to replace notepad.exe, first, I'm not sure then which notepad.exe is being called [there are several in folders under C:\WINDOWS], and secondly, it then instead defaults my startup folder to the User folder instead of whatever is set in the Preferences.

So how can I control that?

I think your problem is that you have "Working folder follows active document" in "Preferences-> General"; so when you open a document it then sets it as the current location.
