Using TextPad for text in Spanish

I activated the Spanish keyboard in Windows Control Panel but every time I try to enter something in Spanish or paste Spanish text into the Textpad window, all characters with the Spanish accent, such as á, é, í, ó, ú become garbage. Could someone kindly help me out please? Thanks a lot!

Make sure that the font for the document you are typing into uses the Western script. You can change that for an individual document by right clicking it and choosing Properties, or for its corresponding document class by choosing Configure/Preferences/Document Classes.
