Deleting Document Classes

Post by CWBillow »

Is there a way to delete a document class -- even perhaps some that seem "hard-coded" like "Binary"?

You can delete all the document classes except Default and Binary. Close all documents, then in the Preferences dialog, click Document Classes on the left (not the plus sign next to it), select a document class and click the red X to delete it.

I don't see that behavior: When I click Document Classes on the left, a "User Defined Classes" list appears on the right. But although it has a scroll bar, it is not actually scrollable and entries cannot be selected with the mouse. Furthermore, there is no red X. (The only red X that ever displays is the one used to delete a file extension that you see when you expand a class definition.

I am using version 6, downloaded today.

You must not have any documents open for the document class list to be editable.

Thanks, MudGuard. I hadn't noticed that when TextPad launches it opens an empty document.
