View Document Selector Broken?

Post by Darkspire »

Textpad 5.4.2 WinXP 32 bit 512mb (nearly)

Ive never had any problems before, worked fine on install but recently I opened a TXT file and the document selector was missing, now when I try to view the document selector or the clip library TP just gives up an error.
I edit HTML pages by hand and usually work on at least 10 at a time so not having the doc selector or the clip library working is a real drawback.
Im not sure but I thought I might have got the windows setting confused as I cant open Notepad either, if I try it it just opens to a blank page in TP. So I went to folder options and checked what file types open with what and it all checks out there, TXT opens with TP.
Im stuck, anyone got an idea?

Try resetting your config.xml file, as described here and see if it helps.

Same Problem, sorta

Hi there, I'm a registered TP user for years. Love the program - best text editor out there.

Background (maybe related, maybe not): several months ago all my TP menus stopped appearing in the usual place; instead they became a "mini-menu" docked at the top of my desktop. Weird, but it still worked, so I ignored it.

Yesterday after a mysterious crash and cleaning my system, I found that the menus were in the right place again. However, clicking View>Clip Library and View>Document Selector did not work any more. Under TP5 they were generating errors and crashing the program.

So I uninstalled TP5 and installed TP6. The install went ok and the menus look fine, but clicking either of those menu links does nothing at all now.

Reading the above response, I renamed config.xml and restarted the program. No change. Please help? I *LOVE* these features and need them for development!

Version 6.x uses different configuration files. Try renaming ConfigState.xml and GUIState.xml in the folder %APPDATA%\Helios\TextPad\6.
