PLEASE HELP IM A NOOB

Post by vincentdemarinis »

Alright, so i first used textpad in class and learned to create simple HTML. I recently bought the program and im currently facing problems i didn't have in class....

firstly, i cannot directly rename a document to a html file from the document tab, example:

i cannot save/rename document1.txt to index.html ....

secondly, when i do get it to become a html file, i try to then open my html with the "open in web browser" button, and all that happends is that my html codes open again, but this time in note pad.

---> I remember being able to do both without no problems and i know sound like a noob.

If anyone can help or provide suggestions it would be greatly appriciated!!
Thank you for your time :):)

You can rename the document with File > Rename.

What happens when you double-click the HTML file in Windows Explorer?

Nothing. What happens is i have my html codes in text pad, and i then save my file. Now when i try to view my progress using internet explorer, there is a button at the top on the toolbar called "view in web browser", when i press it rather than internet explorer opening, all that happens is that my html codes open with the program notepad.

I review my codes and make sure they're correct and this problem still happens

Please try the following:
  1. Locate the HTML file on your hard disk (e.g. on the Desktop, in My Documents, or in another folder on your computer).
  2. Double-click the file.
What happens? Does it open in Notepad, Internet Explorer or in another program?
