Certainh file type plays sound

Post by CWBillow »

I created a filetype [dbp] and associated it with Textpad.

It works fine, but every time I couple-click the file to open it, it plays an audio file.

This is the only file type that does this, and only with Textpad.

What could cause this?

Can you describe the sound you hear when it "plays an audio file"?

Perhaps the files you're opening contain control characters, such as ^G (ASCII 7), that are causing TextPad to produce a beep (although I wasn't able to reproduce this).

You can try this to see if it stops the sound: Click Configure > Preferences, click View, and then clear Audible alerts.

If the .dbp files are not plain text files, you should consider opening them with a binary editor instead of TextPad.

I believe it was my default "Exclamation" sound. I could find nothing anywhere either, so I deleted the file type and association, and recreated both.

I'll call out if it returns.

Thanks,
Chuck
