Slow Find In Files Performance

My current installation of TextPad 5.4.2 with Windows XP hesitates up to 20 seconds before displaying search results from "Find In Files" when scanning a folder with 4015 "C" source files. Performance for this feature used to be much faster. Are there any TextPad or Windows XP configuration settings that would speed this up?
