Issues when I try to Save As

Post by ddaniel »

if I open a file and do "Save As", the resulting file
that's saved is empty, even if the file name and location I chose are correct. This is new behavior,
as before choosing "Save As" would always save the contents of the file no problem.

1. it forgets the file name and puts "Tool Output.txt";
2. when you actually save it, it doesn't save the file, it just creates a new empty one
(whether you correct the file name or not).

Just a speculation, see the topic above about file types. Are you looking at the save as file type to see that it is saving in the type you believe you are saving?
Thank you, and

Please check where the focus is before saving the document. Is it in the document or in the Tool Output pane? Are you using the latest version of TextPad (5.4.2)?

Problem with Save As

Post by tucsonsam »

When I try to save a new file, or Save As a current file, I get no chance to give it a name. It automatically saves the file as "document.txt"

There is no place to enter a file name

Does this post describe what you're seeing? If so, the remedy is to click Browse Folders at the bottom left of the dialog, then close the dialog and reopen it.
