Colours instead of bold: my wish list

Dear all,

When I enter block mode (Ctrl-Q, B), the word "block" on the status bar changes from plain text to bold text. Under some lighting conditions (such as mine) this difference can hardly be seen. So I would like to see this changed: from plain black to plain red, for example. Anybody with me?
