Dear fellow users of TextPad,
As a linguist I often need to sort thousands of strings in long word lists in a backwards (retrograde) manner. Thus, e.g. all words ending on -ing are grouped. I now use a complex tool outside TextPad for this, which takes up to 10 minutes for each listing. Is it possible to have this retrograde option built into the F9 sorting function? I expect to use it many times a day. I hope Helios or some brilliant user is able and willing to help me out.
Sincerely,
Arnoud van den Eerenbeemt, medical lexicographer

I believe you made this request before, nearly four years ago: http://forums.textpad.com/viewtopic.php?t=8689.
I would be surprised (and pleasantly so) if we saw any significant enhancements to TextPad in the near future.

reverse (retrograde) sorting
Dear Ben,
Indeed, I did post this question before. That was well observed of you. I have now reread the replies received at that occasion; they are still little helpful for my purposes. I need to group morphologically related terms in the content (180,000 terms) of the Dutch medical spellchecker that I have developed, as these groups will speed up my proofreading and processing. I do use WordSmith, but for a quick listing and sorting that software requires too many operations. I am still hoping that Helios will consider including reverse sorting...
