Post by gcotterl »

How can I move a block of text down one (or multiple) lines without affecting the adjoining text?

Ignore the response from Mike Olds.

The first step is to copy the block:
  1. Click Configure->Block Select Mode to enable block select mode if it is not already (note that Word Wrap must be disabled).
  2. Select the block of text you want to move. Make a note of the size of the selection (shown in the status bar).
  3. Press CTRL+C to copy the block.
The next step is to clear the block by replacing it with spaces:
  1. Click Edit->Fill Block.
  2. In With characters, type a space.
  3. Under Fill mode, click Replace.
  4. Click OK.
The final step is to paste the block in its new location:
  1. Select the area where you want the block to be moved to. The selection must be the exact same size as the original block.
  2. Press CTRL+V to paste.

Can EDIT/FILL BLOCK be used to insert a block of spaces to move the text under the block down without copying-and-pqsting the text under the block?

Not to my knowledge, which is why I offered the instructions above.
