Two XP computers. Two installations of Textpad, ver 5.2.0 on one, 5.4 on the other.
On one, when I use the Textpad "File | Open" dialog, there is a tickbox that lets me choose to open a file in read only mode. On the other PC, slightly newer Textpad, the "read only" tickbox is absent.
I don't think this is down to Textpad using a common "open file" dialog, as I get no "read only" tickbox when I access the "open file" for Notepad. (Yuck!)
Any help with getting the "read only" tickbox as part of my machine's Textpad "Open File" dialog much appreciated!

WoW!
Many thanks! That DID restore the "read only" tick-box. Now THAT's service!!
I simply shut down all running instances of Textpad 5.4... didn't un-install... and ran the new file. I got a good message about "performing update".. and when the update was done, re-ran Textpad. All was well. I was still registered, etc.... and I had the "read only" tick box back.
(I find it really useful, so thanks for your trouble....
All of my pages at....
sheepdogguides.com
sheepdogsoftware.co.uk and
http://www.arunet.co.uk/tkboyd/index2.htm
are created and maintained with Textpad.
Often I want to access a page to extract things from it, to use in another page. To be sure I don't "mess up" the source page, I open it "read only".
Great program... hence what I say about it at...
