Increasing problems under Windows 7

Post by jonmcg »

As well as textpad taking forever to restore from minimised I now have problem that Replace disappears and will not come back (F8). I close the Replace window and it will not restore either with F8 or via the Search->Replace.
Find is ok (F5). Only fix is to close textpad and restart.
Any help appreciated.

Please try renaming the file config.xml, which you will find at one of the following locations, and then try starting up TextPad. Exit from TextPad before renaming the file.

In Vista and windows 7 it's stored here:

C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Helios\TextPad\5.0.

I hope this helps.

I wonder what you are suppoeded to rename it to. If anything different so it is not used, why not just delete it?

If you rename the file and it makes your TP install go wonky, you can rename it back and get back to a known, if less than optimal, state.
If you delete it and it makes your TP install go wonky, you up the creek.

Is it possible that the Replace dialog box has somehow gone beyond the screen boundaries?

Try this:

1. Press F8 to start a Find/Replace.
2. Press Alt+Space to open the window menu.
3. Press M to select Move.
4. Use the up and left arrow keys to move the Find dialog back onto the screen.
5. Press Enter when it is in the desired location.
