WildEdit - Is there any way to see what was changed?

I'm hoping that this is the right place to post.

When I run WildEdit to change several files in a folder, I get a list of which ones were changed, but, it would be very helpful while I'm learning the product to see what changes were effected.

This would also help provide our audit staff more confidence that we had made appropriate changes.


Are there any preference options to allow us to see what was changed?

Phil,

It's difficult to make a good job of that without implementing a full featured file comparison tool within WildEdit. There are many free ones out there if you search for them. If you run it before deleting the backup files that WildEdit creates, you'll be able to see exactly what's changed.

You can also load files smaller than 64kb into the test window and run the Test Replace command to see what it does.

I use Beyond Compare. Been using it for several years now. Fantastic for comparing folders or files.

WildEdit creates Undo Files so you can compare what was to what is.
