The Clipboard is in use by another process

Last week I installed Text Pad 5.3.1 in Vista. When I try to use the copy and paste functions of Windows in textpad I get the message "The Clipboard is in use by another process". The copy and paste function works everywhere else except in Text Pad. I've searched the forums and see nothing like this. Any ideas how to fix it??? thanks
