Hi All,
I have an XML file which I am opening in TextPad to do reg-ex work as XML Spy is hopeless at reg-ex. When I open the XML file in TextPad I get the following warning:
Warning!: "file.xml" contains characters that do not exist in code page 1252 (ANSI - Latin I). They will be converted to the system default character, if you click OK
This surprises me as:
A) The file has been saved from XML Spy in a UTF-8 environment
B) All the settings on TextPad are defaulted to UTF-8
So, why is it referring to ANSI? Why does it not recognise the text as UTF-8? Is this a recognised issue? I am using TextPad 5.2.0 32 bit
Any help here would be much appreciated as I rely on TextPad so much!
Cheers
Jimbo

I have the identical problem. I must edit text with Hungarian characters. I copy the text from the web and I loose the accents on characters excluded from ANSI. The Textpad document's properties, the Preferences settings of default document type, and the file type (.txt), are all set to UTF-8. Is there a current solution available?
