Error Message: Character conversion: Illegal input sequence/

I am attempting to replace German text within HTML files with other German text and I keep getting the message below. The files are UTF-8 encoded. I am a brand new user of Wild Edit and any help is greatly appreciated.

Here is the message I am getting:

Character conversion: Illegal input sequence/combination of input units.
