Why is sort ghosted out?

I am new to Textpad. I searched the forums but did not find info low enough on my level to help me get my problem fixed.

I have opened a .txt file created by another software (engineering design software). I go to block select mode and select a "column" (comma seperated).

I want to sort, but it is ghosted out.

Can someone tell me why? And how I can fix it?

Most of the reasons I can think of that would lead to "sort" being disabled would also lead to "block select" being disabled (wordwrap is on/unproportional font/...)

The only thing that I can think of now that would keep "block select" enabled, but "sort" disabled is: the file is in read-only mode.



(there might be other circumstances, but I can't think of them right now)

I had the same problem. I was able to block select but the sort option was disabled. My problem was the font. I changed it to courier new and the sort option was enabled.
