Printing multiple copies

Printing multiple copies
When I try to print more than 1 copy of a file I end up getting many copies printed. I am not sure how many because I stop it first. Printing just 1 copy works file. I am on Vista Ultimate Edition. Printing to a remotely attached HP Office Jet L7590, but I think I had the same problem with other printers before.
