Hi,
I tested TextPad with a 5.02 Version. Everything was fine. I mainly do .java Files.
Now I ordered a Licence and installed TextPad 5.2. First I deinstalled 5.02 in the Software Section of the System. Then I installed TextPad 5.2 in a NeighbourFolder to the old Installation. After starting TextPad an error Message occurs, something like 'textpad.syn path not found'.
When I open Java Files Syntax Highlightning is not active. Additionally I found out, that in Settings Languages only english is available, but I downloaded the german version.
In the menu Configure->Preferences at the Folder Settings, nearly everything is set to C:\dokumente und einstellungen ... What should be c:\documents and settings ... in english? At the given location there is only a Folder for TextPad 5.0. It contains only two xml Files. config.xml and config-0700.xml.
I deinstalled 5.2 and reinstalled it in the old 5.02 folder. But nothing changes. The error message is not appearing anymore, but highlighting is still inactive. I copied the files from the installationfolder in the system directory to the c:\documents and settings ... path. Nothing helps.
How can I get TextPad working as it should?

Check the configuration settings for the paths of Folders for Macros.
Then locate the file "'textpad.syn" and copy it to that folder.
OR
Change the path to the folder where "'textpad.syn" is located.
Also make sure that "'textpad.syn" is the syntax file that is designated for that Document Class. Each Class can have its own syntax file, but they will all be in the same folder location.

Hope this was helpful.............good luck,

ok,
i Tried very exactly what you suggested. It does not help.
In Fact I think, if I solve the syntax highlightning issue there will be be other problems left. Additionaly I tried very much combinations of paths in the folders settings etc. nothing helped.
Okay, is there any way to deinstall textpad very clean? The suggested way is to do it by windows-> systemcontrol -> software. But that leaves so much garbage in the registry and the filesystem, that this is not clean, and at least, that is the disturbing fact on my new installation.
So how to deinstall TextPad clean, so I can reinstall 5.2 clean, so that it will work ?

PS: Okay ... solved. I Made a clean uninstall (with a tool and additionally reg cleaning) and reinstalled textpad. Now it works. The Uninstall Routine should do a cleaner job if the user wants it.
