Problem with tcl files.

Post by lou »

Hi,
I've used Text Pad for 13 years at least.
I've had all Text Pad upgrades since I think Text Pad 3.
Now I have TextePad 5.0.3

I used to create new .tcl files and add them to my Clip Library... and it worked well.

In configure, I have placed all my ".tcl files" in Application Data\Helios\TextPad\5.0.
But when I open Text Pad many do not appear in the clip library.

I write my new .tcl file are in the form:

!TCL=#xx,
!TITLE=#xx New Code
!SORT=Y
!CHARSET=ANSI

!TEXT=A command to paste
Paste this
!

and I save it in the folder \TextPad\5.0.
I close Text Pad and re open it.

I created one not too long ago (already in this version of Text Pad) and I can see it in the clip library, but others never show up.
I just started a new one, and it won't load in the Clip Library when I re open Text Pad.

Is there a maximum number of .tcl files?
Do I do something wrong?

Thanks for your help,

Lou

PS. I could not live without Text Pad! But now I need urgently this new .tcl file.

Check Configure/Preferences/Folders/Clip Library has the same path as where you have stored the files. Either move the files or change the path here to make them identical.
Hope this was helpful.............good luck,
Bob

Problem with tcl files

Thanks Bob,
Check Configure/Preferences/Folders/Clip Library has the same path as where you have stored the files.
Well for sure I've already made that!
As I said (maybe not clearly enough), in Configure/Preferences/Folders/Clip Library I have chosen:
Application Data\Helios\TextPad\5.0
And all my .tcl files are in that folder! at least those that I have made my-self.

What I do not understand is why some do open with text pad, and others won't!
Others load that are NOT in that folder, they are in the Programs\TextPad5\Samples folder. Those have no tcl number.
This was always like this and I never changed that.
Should I?
Most of these samples I do not need.
Have you ever experienced something like this?

If you have no better idea of what does wrong, do you thing I could rename one that does load with Text Pad and that I need less, delete old entries, and try to enter my new language codes entries there?
Would renaming and older .tcl file prevent it to open?

This would not explain my problem, but at least I could start using my needed new .tcl.

A better idea maybe?

Thanks again,

Lou
