Failure on licensing TextPad 5.2 on Vista Home Premium PC

Post by ak_crm »

I installed TextPad 5.2 on my Vista Home Premium PC and it runs okay but when I try to install my license by pasting in my version 4 license I get the error message, "This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator." This PC does not belong to a Domain and I am the local administrator. Ideas?

p.s. I also installed TextPad 5.2 on an XP Pro PC and had no problems with the same multi-user license.

Thanks :?:

Even when logged in as Administrator on Vista, programs that you run don't automatically get administrative rights. To do that, right click the program in Explorer and choose the Run as Administrator command. If you do that with TextPad.exe, it will allow the license information to be written to the registry.

Thanks for the tip on Running TextPad as Administrator by right-clicking on TextPad.exe and selecting that option. That allowed the licensing to complete successfully.
