Does anyone know of any text editing tool similar to textpad that has plugin support built into it?

jedit and notepad++ have plugins. I tried and gave up on both of them>

There are others as well that is pretty good, but i'm not sure if this is the right place to discuss other text editors.

You are right, this is not the place. TextPad makes ths space available for users of its own products. This is not a general blogging site.
Common sense and general courtesy would say you don't crap where you eat.
