Window order changing

Post by connorsadler »

Hi,

Just upgraded from 4.something to 5.2.0.

I always have my TODO list open in Textpad as the first document, so I can get to it with ALT + W -> 1.
However, this no longer works in the new release as it keeps reordering the documents / windows so "1" is always the last one you've visited.

Is there any way to change this?

TIA,

Connor

PS I upgrade from 4.7.3 because the scroll position of my TODO list was bizarrely changing on its own (scrolling to a random part of the file).
This happened when I switched to another TP document and used it, then switched back to my TODO list.

Do the developers have any comments on this?
Is it a bug or is the change deliberate?

I've gone back to version 4.7.3 because of this.

Thanks,

Connor

The current behaviour for document ordering under the Window menu in TextPad 5.2, conforms to the default behaviour for the Windows MDI.

Fair enough and thanks for the answer, I assume you just pick up on some standard MS functionality / API ?

However dont you think its a bit counter-intuitive?

e.g. If I use Word 2003 (NOTE: not MDI but hey!) to open one.doc then two.doc, the Word window menu always shows 1=one.doc and 2=two.doc.
I thought this was the whole point of the Window menu?
Another thing Microsoft have broken or fiddled with?

EDIT: Scratch that (ish). Word orders the docs in document name order, it just happens that one < two alphabetically. Argh.

Cheers,

Connor
