Hello
I've installed TextPad 4 on my C-Drive.
When I try to open an HTML file in my D-Drive, I right click on the file and expect to see TextPad on the option bar - but it's not there. I then select the 'Open With' option on the option bar and neither is TextPad listed among the list of programs there.
I can, however, open TextPad in the C-Drive and then browse to the HTML file in the D-Drive from there.
This sort of defeats the point, however, particularly if I want to open several HTML files with TextPad at the same time. At the moment I'm only able to open files one by one.
Does anyone know why the program might not be being acknowledged?

Did you check if "Context menu" is checked under "Configure->Preferences->General"? Do you use WinXP or Vista?
When you rightclick a file and choose "Open with" you have to option to select "Choose program". Then you can browse and find textpad.exe and it should be in the list the nest time you do the same thing so you don't have to search for textpad.exe each time.
Also if you want to open several files in one operation you could drag the files and drop them on the textpad application or when using file->open you can choose several files using the shift or ctrl key like you can do in windows explorer. So there are several ways to open several files in one operation, but if you check the context menu option Textpad should appear on the context menu (rightclick on the files).

Hello gan
The Context Menu is checked and I'm using WinXP.
The problem seems to be that my computer is not even recognising that the program has been installed. It's visible in the Program Files folder on the C-Drive but is not listed on the Control Panel.
It is listed (TextPad 4.7) under 'Currently installed programs' in Add or Remove Programs. But if I browse to it from an HTML file in the D-Drive the program doesn't run and no textbox appears. It just doesn't respond to be browsed from outside.
It does, however, open if actioned directly from its location in the C-Drive.
regards
vizz

Nice to hear it's working, but you said "I can, however, open TextPad in the C-Drive and then browse to the HTML file in the D-Drive from there."vizz wrote:Hi gan
I've worked out what was wrong. I hadn't installed the executable.
How did you manage to start textpad at all without the executable? Not sure if i understand what you did, but not important since it's working fine now.
