Hello.
I have been using TextPad 4.7.3 (paid-version) for quite a while and am happy with TextPad overall.
Some time ago, TextPad began acting up. I do not know what triggered the quirky behaviour (perhaps a Windows update, but I am just guessing because I rarely change anything on my computer. etc.). I run Windows 2000 on a Dell laptop.
1) It did not transfer to another application. If I have TextPad, Excel, Firefox, WordPerfect, WinRAR, etc. running and try to go between the various applications, the TextPad window does not “let go of my computer and change over to the other application I would like to use. I have to remain in TextPad and explicitly minimize TextPad. Only then can I proceed to work in the other application.
2) When I set color preferences for documents, the settings do not take effect. For example, I would like URLs to be blue. That is what I set in preferences, but nothing ever changes from black. My whole documents remain black and white no matter how I might configure my color preferences.
Two hours ago, I upgraded to TextPad version 5.0.3, hoping the problems would be resolved. They haven't.
Am I overlooking something simple?
Michael

Some settings will only stick if done with all documents closed.
1. Close all other copies of TextPad.
2. Close all documents including new blank one if that exists.
3. Make your configuration changes, Apply,OK.
4. Close TextPad.
5. Reopen TextPad, confirm settings are OK now.

Are you making the color changes under the correct class for the document you are reading? Check the extensions for the document class.
From the Main Menu: Configure/Preferences/Document classes.
Expand the Class
Click on Color, make color settings.
Apply/OK
Close/Start TextPad
Again, follow previous instructions re no open documents when this is done.
