setting Textpad as the default editor for TXT and BAT files.

Post by Brian Harron »

I've just installed Textpad 4.7.2 and would like to set it as the default editor for TXT and BAT files but windows explorer options won't accept it.

Also it does not display in the list of programs in open with, or accept it as as the program of preference in the properties of a text document.

I've attempted to set it up using the Explorer, folder options and selecting the TXT file type and then opening the Textpad as the pgm of choice. No success, Notepad is still the default.

I'm using Win. XP

I'll gladly accept any suggestions. thanks

From the Main Menu:
Configure/Preferences/Associated Files

Enter the files you want to associate on the right side. Note the leading period.

Example:
.bat
.txt

Then do Apply/OK.
=====================
Note, 4.73 has more features than 4.72
5.02 recently released, but some still prefer the older 4.73
Hope this was helpful.............good luck,
Bob
