A radical suggestion

Helios' Textpad is by far our favorite editor or else we would not be here. But revolutionary changes in the text editor market like VIM (yes vim) releasing new versions have made it apparent that Textpad's days are numbered without a more active product.

In an effort to reinvigorate its base I propose that Helios change their model from a closed source product to open source, under any one of the many OSS lisences available. The rabid community of developers that already use this product could easily step up to plate and help the very busy Helios developers and improve upon an already striking product.

I perceived this as a "win-win" for all involved.

While I'm certain that there are major drawbacks, I thought it a modest proposal that would enourage a broad debate.
