Installed java after Textpad

Post by Coolbass04 »

I thought I had java on my comp before I installed Textpad, but apparently I didn't. Now the Java SDK Commands wont come up in the tools menu. I have tried uninstalled both, deleting all registry entries, and just about everything. Is there anyway to get these commands to show up??

Did you try Configure->Preferences->Tools->Add->Java SDK Commands? - HTH
Then I open up and see

Yes, that isn't what is showing up. The only commands that show up are:
Program
Dos Command
Online File Help
Menu Separator

I know the SDK commands should be right below this, but it isn't showing up. And uninstalling reinstalling everything isn't helping at all. Any other ideas?

Just the one from the http://textpad.com/support/faq/java.html
Why can't TextPad find Javac.exe?
First make sure you installed the JDK using its setup program as it writes important information to the registry that TextPad needs to locate Javac.exe. If you copied the JDK from another machine it will not work correctly with TextPad.

After you have run the installation program for the JDK, do the following:

Click on Configure.
Select Preferences.
Select Tools.
Delete the 3 JDK commands (if present).
Click Apply.
Click the Add button and select the JDK commands.
Click OK.
Edit: Found this using search, but it's old... http://textpad.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ... l+java+sdk
Also, make sure you got the basic java install right, ie. from a command prompt type "java -version".
Also2, are you using the latest version of TP?
Then I open up and see
